In Gernika on April 26, about fifty of the first objectors and insubordinates to military service in the 70s, 80s and 90s! We launched the “Awareness Against War” campaign. Here is the text in English:
Awareness Against War Campaign
We, the people who began the nonviolent struggle against compulsory military service, today call on all generations to fight against war, against all kinds of war, genocide and violence, against its causes and with all nonviolent means, including the creation of alternatives to armies to abolish war.
We call on you to object, denounce, not cooperate, disobey… and we commit ourselves:
- To conscious consumption in companies that do not invest in or manufacture weapons
- To conscious work in companies that do not profit from wars
- To conscious information in media and networks that do not create a climate of war
- To the conscious tax that does not contribute to spending and investment in armed defense
- To vote consciously for candidates who reject war and militarization
- …
- To welcome resisters, objectors, insubordinates, refugees, deserters, refugees …
- To promote alternatives to armed and violent military defense
- To contribute to the network of Nonviolent Self-Defense groups as a citizen way to train and prepare for Unarmed and Nonviolent Popular Defense.
